B and J met in Athens as college students while at the University of Georgia in the fall of 2000. A few years later they began their life together and moved to the foothills of Northwest Georgia.  Over the next 10 years, they grew their family to five. B poured his love for learning and competition into his job as a high school teacher and football coach. J put her talents and creativity to work as a graphic designer. During that time, their college loans shrunk and their convictions grew, opening the door for them to consider new and exciting adventures for their family.

In 2013, they moved their family to the Horn of Africa where they partnered with some of the most amazingly, gifted folks on the planet. The next 8 years produced deep, genuine friendships and a love of simple and purposeful living. It was a combination of purpose and weariness that can only be understood by those who have been an outsider in every sense of the word and yet accepted as a valued member of a family that is not your own. Despite their love for the peoples of the Horn, they returned to Northwest Georgia in 2020 and are laboring to indoctrinate their three children in the charm and intricacies of the Deep South. “Faith, Family and Football” is not just a way of life, but it is also a new filter for their third culture kiddos as they navigate life in Cartersville, Georgia.

Since returning, B and J continue to pursue ways to remain connected to the lives and opportunities that they developed while living overseas. Out of that desire, the vision and mission of Traveling Goat Trading Co. was born.
